I just saw a continuation of the President Obama returning-a-salute-to-a- serviceman-with-a-coffee-cup-in-his-hand outrage

Truth is I expected it because I think he has no respect for himself of his office. He really is kind of classless when you look at him and his wife.

Of course, every do good liberal wants to point out that President 

Bush once returned a salute while carrying a dog but they don't know military ettiquette. President Bush had the dog in his left hand and properly returned the salute with his right hand.

People may try and cover for him by saying it is no big deal but it really is. Like I often say, it's the little things that show us what a person is  made of.

Michelle Obama got off of Air Force One a while back looking like a damned ragamuffin and supporters tried to brush it off. The truth is that Air Force One does not belong to the Obamas. It belongs to the American People. Every time she gets on and off of it she represents us.

When she got off of that airplane looking like a ragamuffin I was offended. She made us ALL look like a bunch of bums. 

Sorry, Michelle. It's not about you. It's about you representing us and you made is look like ragamuffins.

You might want to complain about Bush all you want but you can bet your ass he never forgot who he represented and neither did his wife. We NEVER saw Laura Bush running around looking like something the cat dragged in. She was always presentable.

While a lot of people disagree with the Bush policies I can't think of a single time he or Laura embarrassed the country by their manners. They served with a little class.
I miss that.

Incidentally it was during bad economic times that the Reagans bought $250,000 worth of tableware for the White House and a lot of people griped about it.

I liked the way he came right out and pointed out that the dinnerware had never been replaced in decades and it was a national embarrassment. He pointed out that it WAS expensive but he wasn't buying it for himself. He was buying it to represent the American people. 

I would imagine the Reagans ate off of basic dinnerware when they were not entertaining and left the 'good stuff' for when company came, just like our mothers did when we were growing up.
