What's with all the hand sanitizer being bought up?

More hysteria over another flu strain going around.

Right now I see where there are a few recorded deaths over it and now everyone is in a panic mode.

The recorded deaths are running well under 1% and those are generally people with compromised immune systems.  Note I said recorded.

The stats have to be much lower because there are quite likely a lot of people that have had this particular flu come and go and not even know it. Some may not have even had any real symptoms and have had it pass through with maybe sniffles for a couple of days and that's it.

Of course the media has whipped a lot of people up into a hysterical frenzy and now there is a rush on hand sanitizers, toilet paper and alcohol. 

Yesterday I spoke with the woman that runs the drug aisle at the local supermarket and she reported that not only are they out of hand sanitizer but the improvisers have cleaned them out of aloe and alcohol. She even said the liquor stores are out of Everclear!

It's ridiculous. I have never seen such idiocy in my entire life.

Of course these very germaphobes that will sanitize their hands several dozen times a day for no reason would be a whole lot better off spending time shoveling manure somewhere and getting their antibodies up.

I worked opposite a germaphobe once and he was constantly catching colds and got the flu every time I turned around.

The opposite end of the spectrum was a guy nicknames Pig Pen Ben who was just like his name says. He lived like a total animal and never spent a sick day in his life.
