Ever watch the cook at a diner?

It's a real art and science being a fry cook or whatever they are called.

A good one can keep things moving and synchronize all of the stuff on a grille so everything gets done at the proper time and all of the orders come out right. It's really quite impressive if you are paying attention to the cook and watching how they do things.

It is astonishing to see him make maybe ten or fifteen meals at once on a grill and get them all plated and out in the order they came in.

Sometimes several orders are going to the same table and a good fry cook can have them all done and ready to be tabled at once. It's amazing to watch.

It is yet another one of those things that all of the formal education in the world isn't going to help you do that particular job. It is an art and a science unto itself and I take my hat off to a good fry cook.

I rather doubt I could do that successfully for a living.
