One of the things that makes college students into conservatives is

their Grade Point Average.

Students have to keep it up to a certain level just to be able to stay in school or keep a scholarship. They have to get acceptable grades.

It is something they earn by studying, cramming, whatever it takes and a student with a high GPA is pretty proud of it. It is the proof that they have worked hard at college.

Enter Suzie Creamcheese that attended every party and social event on campus. She's on academic probation she's maybe half a point below the flunk out cut off. It looks like Suzie is going to have to leave school for insufficient grades.

Brainy Brenda has a perfect GPA, a clean 4.0. She has no worries. She's missed out on a lot of the partying and has a somewhat stifled social life because she has opted to study. She's really quite proud of her 4.0 GPA.

Brenda also considers herself to be a liberal. She supports all the do-good courses and is a member of the campus Socialist party. She wears a Che Guevara T-shirt to class often. She also has ties to ANTIFA.

She has a GPA that means she has no worries about staying in school. She has points to spare, far more than she needs to stay in school. 

So let's ask Brenda if she is willing to give Suzie a half point out of her GPA to Suzie so Suzie doesn't get thrown out of school and see what happens. Brenda will still have a 3.5 GPA and will still have no danger of being thrown out. She'll go from an A average down to somewhere between an A- to a B+ average. She'll still be considered a good student.

Suggest to Brenda that she give Suzie a half point out of her GPA to Suzie so Suzie can stay in school and see what happens.

Invest wisely in a set of earplugs before you do this and expect to hear a diatribe that will make the infamous McUzi rant seem it came from the mouth of St. Francis. Brenda is sure going to go off on you! (If you don't know what the McUzi rant is, go to my post on 22 September, 2018. It's there.) The uproar you will get from Brenda will make the Mount Vesuvius eruption sound like a fart from a 93 year old woman in comparison.

Brenda is sure to say that it isn't fair that she busted her ass to get a perfect GPA and that there is no way in hell she's going to give ANY of it away to some lazy party girl! She should have missed a couple of parties and studied!

Brenda ain't giving squat away and the very fact that she was asked angers her to no end.

It's pretty funny when you think of it. Brenda wants the government to take everyone else's money away and give it to someone else, yet she isn't giving a single bit of her perfect GPA away. Not one single bit. After all, she EARNED that GPA!

It's funny how it works. A lot of people don't seem to mind having something taken from someone else, yet want to be allowed to keep what they have earned.
