It gets stolen, misappropriated, mismanaged and is the most expensive way to help someone.
Send goods instead.
If a friendly nation needs help sent them food, weapons, uniforms and the needed military equipment.
Of the billions we have sent to Ukraine I really wonder how much of it was spent on issuing Ukrainian soldiers the needed equipment they needed. My uneducated guess is it was an awful lot less than we sent them.
To be fair, and considering that in no way do I support Ukraine, let alone aiding them, much of the aid that we sent to Ukraine was in the form of US-made armament. For example, we don't send them $1 million to buy artillery shells on the open market, we send them $1M of artillery shells, newly produced by an American defense contractor.
ReplyDeleteI'm aware that much of it IS in goods. Still, I'm reasonably sure that large amounts of cash change hands.
