AAR. Richmond.

This is my perspective and mine only. There were over 25,000 people there and that means 25,000 perspectives.  If you were there you most likely saw it either from the other side of the crowd or through your eyes.

Also OPSEC prevails here. I won't post anyone's name or some of the technical details of the equipment we used.

Your mileage may vary.

I begin.

I left Pittsburgh with a terrible know in my stomach. I felt terrible and in my heart I knew I was headed into a real shit storm. I cringed but there are times a man just has to do what he has to do. I took my dentures out and parked them in the glove box. One strips things like that off when he expects combat because they get lost in the fray.

I have been in a couple of civil disturbances in my day and know that the drill. It doesn't take a lot to turn a gathering into a melee and if this one broke into one it was going to be bloody. Really, really bloody. I knew what it would take to set it off and it wasn't going to be a whole lot.

Still, even though I thought there was going to be a damned good chance of being killed, injured or arrested I went. I had to. Not for me but for future generations. If I didn't I would never be able to face my niece, nephew and Godson again.

The arguments and discussions I have heard and read over the past few days had started me head spinning and I wondered what I was getting into. I had dealings twice over the years with with Virginia policeman and both were negative. One was really rude and stupid on his part.

I had been drinking a bottle of some sort of soda out of a long necked bottle sitting on my tailgate in a parking lot one hot night and a cruiser pulled in and the cop headed into the store. He saw me and as he passed me he looked at me carefully, saw what I was drinking and snapped at me, "If that was Budweiser I'd throw your ass in jail." It was uncalled for and just plain ignorant. I was doing nothing wrong.

That was years ago and that is water under the bridge. That was then, this is now. What was I going into?

A couple of locals had warned me about the way Virginia law works. For example I was advised NOT to pee behind a dumpster because public urination in VA can get a person on the sex crime list. It WILL if they don't like you.

I was also aware that tensions were running high. The VA courts had ruled in favor of the governor and permitted him to change the Lobby Day rules. There was a list of prohibited items that could not be taken onto the capitol grounds. Believe it or not, the list included torches and pitchforks.

The days of yore tools of the gnarled peasant were outlawed! What a joke!

I had a person offer me a couch and a ride into town for the rally and I arrived and got part of the inside scoop. As earlier planned, I was going to help him with reconnaissance. He and I would both carry handheld radios and wander the fringes looking for anatomies and report it up the chain.

We were not to openly carry arms and simply be the quiet, grey man type and be unremarkable looking. I looked at the situation and decided that the thirty year different in our ages I could pass myself off as his Uncle Pic that he was showing the city to of anyone asked.

Before I left home I had decided not to shave as unshaven I look a bit older than my 68 years. It would add to the appearance. I threw an old brown barn coat over myself and an Elmer Fudd hat on my head and a pair of old aviator shades on. I looked unremarkable, a borderline homeless old man. I would also carry a cane to add to the harmless appearance.

Arriving at my host's home I quickly dug in. We had to get downtown to a pre rally meeting and check in and make sure we had the latest dope on what to expect.

Later in the early evening we headed to a place in Richmond and got the inside scoop an a few things regarding the rally. I knew a lot of the people from the internet and it was good to see them in public. I'm sure they were disappointed in what they saw. Whatever.

One of the things that we were told is that if we heard the words "This is an unlawful assembly." that we were to get word up to the top MOST riki tik. It was also explained that if the words were heard that it would be scant seconds before the police released crowd control gas.

A couple of people said that if that happened that we were free to do as our conscience and equipment dictated. In my case I had no equipment for that kind of trouble and realized I wasn't a kid anymore. I would probably simply get in the way and/or become a casualty needing help. I would be a detriment.

I remember Kent State well and although I hadn't signed any long term leases on life lately I am simply too damned old to get in there and brawl.

I knew pretty much what would happen if Red Ralphie ordered us to leave. The gas would fly, a lot of our guys would pull out gas masks and there would be one hell of a melee. If that happened all bets as to the outcome would be off. My guess is that the Capitol would be entered and possibly overrun leaving Red Ralphie screaming  "Zips in the wire" or something as he fled through one of the tunnels. It would get real ugly real fast. He would likely be crammed into some sort of armored vehicle, carted off to a waiting airplane and head off to his vacation home in Bermuda. He would likely escape, though.

We left the meeting and reconnoitered the capitol area noticing the fences and my host was trying to give me the lay of the land. It was a waste of time because my city artificial horizon had tumbled. Thank God he had given me a map and I knew where to go if we got separated. I would return to the parking garage and the car. We also had an if all else fails escape route planned and head west. From there we would travel out of the area and call someone for a ride home. My guide was a true professional.

In a way this was a pretty good place for me. I was in a supporting level of some sort and at least I was contributing. I was to find myself monitoring the 2 meter area repeater. This was not one of the organized commo channels but if the SHTF there would likely be a lot of useful dope sent on it because the channels we had would be hopelessly jammed up.

We returned to his house and basically we shared a nightcap with his other house guests and sacked out. We knew we had to get there at Oh dark thirty and meet at a certain staging area.

One of his other house guests was accompanying us and the three of us left early and grabbed a breakfast. I was keyed up to a certain degree. The knot in my stomach was still there and my habit of a big breakfast before a long day didn't mesh. I knew I would toss chow if I ate heavily so I grabbed a small breakfast and a short coffee as I didn't want or need excess liquids. I knew the porta potties would likely be overrun and I had been warned about peeing in a dark corner. I also hit the head and coaxed as much urine out of my system as I could.

It was damned cold outside and on our way back to the car my pard commented that the wind, cold and dry air would dissipate any gas agents that wore likely to be deployed.  I was not equipped for any infighting. I did, however, have a spare bottle of water and a cotton scarf along with a pair of goggles and that would likely let me escape fairly unscathed.

As we were driving in I asked my host what the odds were that we were driving into a shit storm of epic proportions. He knew Virginia, the local politics and had the general lay of the land.

"About 70%" was his terse answer. The knot in my stomach tightened a bit more.

We parked and wandered over to a spot on the march route that was to be used by one of the armed groups that was mustering and waited. They arrived and we let them pass. It was pretty much a company sized unit and my trained eye told me a lot.

They were professional, very professional and obviously had been trained. I didn't see one drop of spit nor a dab of polish. The boots and uniforms were well worn and every one of them had added things according to their individual tastes. These guys knew their shit. They were the guys that had fought in Afghanistan. Others were the brawlers of the disagreement of Fallujah and knew city fighting well.

These were the guys that had the 0311, the 11B type MOS behind them. They were infantry, combat engineers, whatever with a smattering of others.

Nobody just falls in and joins the ranks of a group like that. I could tell that practically all of them had paid some pretty hefty dues. I saw a scar here, what looked like a burn on someone's hand. One had a somewhat visible limp. At the least virtually all of them had been taken from home and hearth and been deployed overseas. I saw one of them slip into the 10,000 yard stare for a few seconds and then snap out of it.

This wasn't a parade. Nobody was in step. These men were not marching. They were foot slogging. The 120 pace per minute of the parade ground had slowed to a pace that was simply comfortable.

They were not as hard as they had been a few years ago. There were small paunches here and there and some had the beginnings of grey hair but they were still damned tough. They were also skilled. I also noted that it looked like every one of them had a gas mask discreetly hidden in their pack somewhere.

I knew damned good and well that these guys were not going to start anything, but if anything started they were damned likely to finish it. In the event they didn't make the meal of things they would sure get a big, thick meat sandwich out of the deal and those that had the stupidity to tangle with them would be eating leftovers.

I also looked at the leadership. The NCO level leaders seemed to have an comfortable, easy relationship with their men. There was no pompous Sergeant Major screaming at someone to police his moostach. No boot lieutenant types lowering their voices three octaves to address the men. The leaders were fairly soft spoken men.It was obvious that these guys knew how to lead an armed populace unlike Red Ralphie. There was little humor, though. Things were too serious.

I made a mental check of the list of stuff that had been banned and saw that just about everything on it was present. Rifles, body armor, bayonets and so forth. However there were two absent items from the list I noticed. Nobody had a torch or a pitchfork.

Incidentally this wasn't the only organized group. This was just the one I followed in.

As usual, I could not keep my mouth shut. I made a wry comment about how I heard no complaints from them because complaining soldiers are happy soldiers.

A couple of them chuckled and turned around grinning. "That's because we're not too happy to be here," said one of them. I said that he had a very valid point. Most people were NOT happy to be there. I sure wasn't.

As we neared the capitol area there were a couple of cops handing out leaflets. They contained a map of the area and also a list of what was not permitted in the fenced in capitol area. I read it and quickly threw in in a trash can we passed by. If I were to be arrested carrying this paper it would have been solid evidence I had been warned about whatever.

Another cop in the group told the guy in front of me to remove his magazine and he looked offended. He was not part of the organized outfit, just another guy carrying openly. I quickly and quietly told him he ought to and he removed it with a dubious look. I spoke to him in a voice meant for the cop to hear.

" You can load that rifle fast enough if you have to use it." The cop gave me a real dirty look. We wandered up another fifty feet and I told him to replace his magazine. Later I heard he did that to a lot of people who took it out, wandered along and promptly replaced it.

We slogged into the capitol area and then the three of us peeled off to wander the streets in the area and see what we could see. We were looking for large sized groups of policemen, large vehicles, anything armored and anything that didn't look right. Over the course of the rally we reported in a couple of things but nothing that had us truly worried.

We did notice that the areas where things could be hidden were sealed off. They were not trying to display a show of force. My guess is they realized that a lot of people were loaded for bear.

I think I did at least a little good stumbling around and hobbling along with a cane that I really didn't need even though I am a somewhat overweight old man. I really ought to get into better shape. Still, the cane did some good. It made my partner look like he was giving his ancient uncle a tour.

Our general route was to wander the outlying areas for a while and then return to the crowd. for a bit and we had an if you turn up missing reassembly point. This proved wise as the third guy got lost for a while and we later picked him up at the rally point.

I saw a woman cop with a sour look on her face and said to her, "Marry me and I will take you away from all of this and you'll never have to wrestle with stinking drunk again. We will move into a little house in the suburbs and raise 2.3 children and live in bliss forever."

She is the first woman I have said that to that has not been amused by it. On the other hand I did like on the edge of being a scruffy wino.

I  managed to spend some time with the crowd and it looked like the media was pretty disappointed. I saw only one thing even resembling a confederate flag and that was a combination of Old Glory, and the Southern Cross. It was actually a statement that we were one nation. I did see an LGBTQ flag and wandered over for a second. After all, I want to see gay married couples able to defend their marijuana plants with guns. There was a sign there that gun rights were gay rights. That's absolutely true.

As I was wandering back to meet my host I saw a burly big old school looking kind of guy. A few years back he probably would have been aghast to see the Rainbow flag and muttered something nasty about faggots. I turned to him and made the comment about gay married couples being able to defend their pot plants and he snapped back, "Damned tootin'!"

I looked at him and said to him, "I'm a straight white male and if I didn't have other things to do I do believe I would have showed up carrying a Rainbow flag just to watch the media melt down!"

"I'd have joined you," he chuckled and I wandered off.

I heard that ANTIFA Richmond had posted that they, too support the RKBA and would NOT attend although I'd bet several members did on their own.

Wandering the crowd I saw a slice of the entire state. There were everyone from someone's great grandmother to her great grandchildren. Nobody was obnoxious but the mood of the crowd was annoyed.

Some very young woman politely asked me how I was doing. She was obviously polished. A truly classy woman. I answered her, "Not worth a shit! I have a government that isn't listening to us!"

She laughed outright and told me she had the same problem.

By now the knot in my gut had disappeared. Reed Ralphie wasn't going to push the issue and I knew that there wasn't likely to be a riot. I also had not heard a single ND (negligent discharge) I was impressed. What was more important is that the cops were loosening up.

About half of the people were packing long guns overtly and I knew there were a whole slew of those packing concealed. I saw some poor, tired looking guy packing a Barrett. Another guy was probably a kindred spirit. He was packing a bayoneted Garand. I saw a pair of damned expensive 12 gauge trap guns and God only knows what else.

There were also a couple of county sheriffs there. I thanked one of them for showing up.

It was interesting to note that armed, unarmed didn't matter. Everyone was comfortable together and the three of us traveling together decided to listen to a couple of speeches but were too far away. Our efforts to recon had been in vain. I guess Red Ralphie wasn't entirely stupid. It had been a total success and there was a bonus.

As we were leaving someone shouted "Police call! Let's leave this place cleaner than we found it!"

I shouted , "Yeah! Your mother isn't here to pick up after you!"

Some guy answered indignantly, "She sure the hell is! She's over there!" and pointed.

"I'm damned well not going to clean up after you!"  she shot back.

On the way out one of the cops was telling people to come back next year.

Did this do any good?

I don't know but it did show Red Ralphie that he was seriously outgunned. If he was even a little bit smart he would back down but he's an idiot. He is probably going to double down.

Someone set up a Guillotine nearby and the police quietly took it down when it was unguarded. It's too bad. They should have left it up and given Ralphie something to contemplate. It's clear now that the people have the strength to cart him off and do as we see fit. The truth is he is where he is now only because of the kindness of the people. We could easily take his head down to the nearest bowling alley and bowl with it.

Incidentally the ballot box has failed. The newly elected candidates have turned on us.

The jury box has proven itself to be useless when it permitted Red Ralphie to over rule the word of law.

The rally was a case of using the soap box and we'll see if that works. The snake has shaken its tail and we'll see if they are paying attention.

If it doesn't we shall see if Virginians are willing to open the cartridge box. If they do that I seriously doubt that the Richmond government will be able to withstand it for very long. I pray that they don't have to but it doesn't look very good.

Then again, there IS an alternative. It's called VEXIT.

West Virginia will probably be willing to take in all the RKBA counties if they so desire. It actually doesn't sound like a bad deal. Taxes are lower in WV.

GUns are only the tip of the iceberg in Virginia

Virginians are being forced into a corner.

Hopefully they fight like a tomcat and get their state back.

Halfway through January and no real snow.

Interesting.

Maybe I was right when I said the deer had no white in their coats mean't a mild winter.

Ask me again in a couple of months.

The other day at the airport

a stranger walked up to me and handed me his card. He works at the Claire Channault Museum in Louisiana.

I was wearing my A2 with the AVG blood chit sewn on the back.

I looked over my shoulder at him, thanked him and we both went on our ways.

If I can I will go to Louisiana. It looks like a pretty good museum.
It is interesting that something 80 years old is recognized by so many people.

Where do people like Hillary get their imaginary power?

Based on the premise that government is a pact between governed and governing that can be broken at any time by either party I have to say that the only time I have allowed myself to be governed was when I joined the army.

I let myself be subject to the UCMJ and other rules and regulations and was afforded protections according to Army regulations. It was a contract I signed of my own free will, having dodged the draft earlier.

When my contract ended my service ended and I went right back to being what I was before I enlisted, just another guy on the streets.

Very few of our elected officials have my respect, my loyalty and my obedience. The rights the Constitution guaranteed in the first ten amendments are not given to me by anyone other than God. What the Constitution says is that those governing me can not take my God given rights away from me.

The truth of it all is I simply tolerate government and pay little attention to most of our elected officials. They really don't get a lot of blind obedience from me. I pay my taxes and will do so for as long as they supply me with roads and other infrastructure and things of that nature and keep me safe from foreign dangers and that sort of thing.

I pretty much try to be fairly self governing and live like a decent human being. I can use traffic laws as an example. I generally slow down to a responsible speed in neighborhoods and keep my eyes peeled for (in this order) cats, dogs and kids. However most of the time I don't come to a true dead stop at stop signs because I know why they're there. They are there to get you to pay attention.

I generally slow to almost a dead stop and look around for things and proceed. It's good enough for most cops and most Joe Citizens although I crossed swords with a Do-Gooder a while back. It was rather funny.

I crept through and the guy got off his porch yelling at me. I generally ignore people like that but decided I was tired of his bull$hit so I decided to engage. I stopped and he started babbling about his kids.

"Your youngest is about 36 years old," I shot back. "If he's stupid enough to play on the streets then we're better off without him! He's probably already cost the taxpayers a fortune!"

He wasn't ready for that. "You know who stops dead cold at stop signs?" I continued. "Drunk drivers. They worry about cops and don't pay attention to anything else." Then I roared off.

But I digress.

These elected officials actually think they can tell me what to do. I have signed no contract or have any other type of agreement with them. The only one I have an agreement with is my employer and that is limited. As long as I take his money he can tell me what to do. When I quit of get terminated then we both go our separate ways and we won't owe each other anything.

Being destroyed from within.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7877107/Suspected-robber-targeted-four-banks-released-NYs-no-bail-law-strikes-FIFTH-time.html

There's your liberal government in action.

Five time bank robber released with no bail in NYC. FIVE TIMES he robbed banks and he's STILL on the streets.

Once I said that if the penalty for bank robbery was $50 then I would become a bank robber.

And why not? Grab a couple of grand, turn myself in, plead guilty, hand them $50 and be on my merry way with a wad of cash. It makes sense and any cop that does the math would agree with me 100%. Hell, he might even turn in his badge and join me.

Well, it's come to pass

One of the things I have a hard time with understanding

is the need or even the desire of a big house.

It is a hassle any way you look at it for someone that isn't rich. It's a pain in the ass because if you have it then you have to maintain it.

My ideal house would be a single story two bedroom with a kitchen, a dining/living room, a bathroom and that's about it.

I actually lived on a 25 foot sailboat years ago and wanted for nothing.

Then again, I manage to see through a lot of bull$hit.

It has a lot to do with why I am a minimalist of sorts.

One of the things I have noticed about a lot of elected officials

is that many of them seem to think they are a part of some ruling class and can tell us what to do.

Surprise!

Any student of government learn right off that government is a contract between governed and governing that can be broken by either party at any time.

Often it is broken simply by people voting them out of office. Sometimes when the governing class refuses to accept the results of an election they get the boot by force.

I figure that every so often throwing someone out of office by force reminds the rest of our elected officials that they serve at the will of the people.

In Virginia they are long overdue for some elected officials to learn a few lessons regarding how much authority they have.

Lately I have been planning to switch things over to pure organic whale oil.

A while ago I parked my green pickup in a green vehicle only parking spot. Of course someone said something and I explained to them that I had converted the engine a while back so that it runs on pure organic whale oil.

He was an idiot and apologized. "I'm sorry. I didn't realize you had converted it over."

Idiot.

Lately that line is becoming one of my standard answers and draws dirty looks from snowflakes and anywhere between a smirk to a belly laugh form most other people.

I just used it again when someone said something about heating with natural gas which is actually a lot cleaner than oil. I said I was going to install a whale oil stove so as to use a 100% organic heating source.

Sounds like a pretty good answer to me.

Another day another dime

Or whatever.

I have always wondered what goes through the mind of a lot of our elected officials, not that I really give them any loyalty, respect or a whole lot of obedience, either.

I pretty much do what I feel like and quietly go about my business. I drive fairly responsibly, don't shoot my neighbors dog for barking or run around blowing shit up. I don't do drugs because I don't want to do drugs. If I wanted to I suppose I would. I fail to see where government has a right to tell me I can't. Still, I reserve the right to do or not do drugs as a personal choice.

I have at times have permitted others tell me what I can and can't do. I joined the Army and played by their rules because it was my choice to enlist. I pretty much played by the rules and did well. I was a pretty good soldier.

I also do what my employer tells me to in exchange for a paycheck which is fair enough. If I get tired of taking their orders I stop taking their money. That's fair enough.

I do, however, pay my taxes or at least most of them. I'll admit here and there that I have done things like buy booze, cigarettes and a couple big ticket items out of state to avoid the taxes over the years. I have also tasted a bit of moonshine over the years and wish right now that I could pick up a jar or three of the good stuff I sampled a while back. It was as smooth as Jameson's. It wasn't that dump made of sugar, but the good stuff made of and Old School corn sour mash. I don't think the guy was making for money so much as he was making it out of an Old School pride in making a quality product.

Right now I see I am not alone in my way of thinking. I hear that Virginians are really stocking up on AR15s and other weapons before they get banned. I don't think they are buying them to turn in.

It looks to me like I am not really alone in my attitude. Lots of people really don't pay a lot of attention to the Emperor.

Of course, the Emperor has no clothes on.

I read where the Democrats in Congress are pissed off

because the President had a couple of terrorists whacked. It's his job to protect the nation from people like that.

Unlike former president Obama who tipped off the Iranians when Israel wanted to whack a terrorist, Trump kept his mouth shut and went along and did it and then announced what he had ordered.

I will say the hit was pretty surgical. It wasn't a clumsy attempt that took out a lot of people in collateral damage. Our technology is pretty clean these days but I digress.

The reason he never told congress in advance is that he didn't want it leaked out.

Frankly if I were Trump I'd set congress up by planning a mission and after congress was notified, I'd cancel it and go and try and find the leakers and jail them. A lot of congresscritters would cheerfully get a lot of our people killed if it would embarrass the president and that mentality has to stop.

Then again, Congress has a pretty leaky record.

During WW2 the Navy briefed a portion of Congress and mentioned that Japanese depth charges tended to go off shallow and were pretty weak in explosive power and really were not a great danger to American submariners.

Shortly after the briefing American submariners reported that Japanese depth charges now packed a dangerous wallop and were being set to deeper ignition depths.

It is believed that someone in Congress had said something to someone and it got back the the Japanese.

I can't say as I blame Trump for not notifying Congress. I sure wouldn't.

I've posted it before that Joe Biden let the cat out of the bag that it was SEAL Team six that killed Osama bin Laden.

Nancy is upset because as usual she didn't get to sit at the big table with the adults. She had to sit at the card table with the rest of the kids and she's mad at the grownups for putting her there.

Can't say as I blame Trump. I would have done the same thing.

Incidentally you can't call Trump bloodthirsty, either. He stood down an attack on the Iranians after they shot own one of our drones. His reason was that the estimated casualties on the attack were too high and he didn't think it was right to take that many lives in exchange for a drone.

As time passes I think more and more of President Trump. Frankly the only reason I voted for him is that he wasn't Hillary. Next election may be the first in decades I have actually voted FOR someone rather than against someone.

The right to keep and bear arms is an inherent human right.

It wasn't given to me by a government to begin with. I have always had the right to own whatever tools I deem necessary to take care of myself. It is a basic human right.

What the Second Amendment does is recognize that right and says that the government can't take that right away from us.

I do not know where people seem to think that the government gave us any rights to begin with. Our basic rights are human rights and the Bill of Rights simply recognizes that.

I am watching the doings in Virginia and it may very well go hot there

It would behoove any of the people involved in the fray to read up on the French Maquis during WW2. There's a lot to be learned from them and maybe some day if I can find it I will post a few tips and pointers here for those involved.

We'll see.

What's going to happen next? New Year's Day news....

Five missing and two rescued after a commercial fishing vessel was lost 170 miles SW of Kodiak.

A quick search leads me to believe I knew the skipper back when I lived there, assuming the boat wasn't being run by a relief skipper. One of the survivors said the skipper never got out of the wheelhouse when she turned turtle.

Coast guard search and rescue aircraft say they see no signs of anything. No oil slick, no debris, nothing. The sea ate the 130 foot boat in a single bite.

As time passes and I hear of boats going down in Alaska I find I know fewer and fewer of the fisherman that are lost.

A handful have retired, many have died, some have disappeared into the bowels of the Lower 48 never to return to Alaska. I suppose I am one of the latter.

Someone recently commented to me that I am a hard case of sorts when in reality I am not. I simply accept the demise of people a lot faster than others simply because on my decade in Alaska where and when we died like flies in shipwrecks and small plane crashes.

I consider myself to be a fugitive from the law of averages.

That is all.

A lot of soccer moms don't get it.

Besides gun control in Virginia, the Virginia legislature is looking at enacting legislation that will permit the over rule of zoning boards.

I suppose a lot of soccer moms are going to go along with this in the interest of diversity and what have you. This is because a lot of soccer moms are complete idiots. They want diversity for their kids.

These are the kind of idiots that don't understand the law of unintended consequences. There also the kind of idiots that will condone poor behavior in minorities simply because they are afraid of being called a racist.

There's diversity and there's diversity.

The have not seemed to figure out that minorities can live anywhere they want if the can afford it. In my case I live in suburbia and my neighborhood is mixed. There are a few black families mixed in and Hispanics, too. It is a fairly diverse neighborhood.

The glue that pretty much hold us together certainly isn't race or religion. It's the American Dream of home ownership in a halfway decent, safe neighborhood. Anyone is welcome if they are willing to pony up, but a place and take care of it. It really is that simple. None of us care what color someone is or where they go to church or even if they do.

The one thing none of us want is to have the neighborhood torn up by some damned communist plan that drags everyone down to the level of the lowest. In short we do not want an apartment complex in a neighborhood zoned for single family homes.

The cycle in a some apartment complexes is that when the owner can't find enough tenants he 'goes Section 8' and the place becomes government subsidized housing. Of course this means that the people that move in ca't really afford to live in the neighborhood otherwise. While a lot of these people are probably pretty decent people, many are not and it doesn't take long before the decent people get run out and the whole place turns into a sewer and drags the neighborhood down with it.

Of course, Soccer Mom Karen never wanted to see her children having to deal with crackheads, junkies, pimps, whores and other unsavory types. She wanted diversity and to prove to everyone she was no racist.

Of course when Soccer Mom Karen figure out what happened it's too late so she decides to move. Then she discovers that the wonderful home she and her loving husband paid $500,000 isn't even what they owe on it because nobody wants to live down the street from Section 8 housing.

By this time Soccer Mom Karen is livid but it's too late. She doesn't know or understand what happened. She can't figure out that she actually VOTED for this to happen so the next election she doubles down and voted for yet MORE socialism thinking it will fix the problem. Instead it makes it worse and then Soccer Mom Karen decides that the neighborhood is intolerable. Her kids are getting into drugs, the daughter is running with the wrong crowd and she can't move because they can't even get anyone to take over the house payments.

I suppose if she has a brain in her head at this point she and darling husband will simply move out and let the bank repossess the place which by now isn't in very good shape thanks to the neighbors. The fence is spray painted with graffiti and has a couple of holes knocked in it.

Of course if they do bail out the chances of getting another mortgage are pretty slim and it looks like the wonderful family of five is going to have to move into an apartment of some sort. They waited too long.

It is interesting to note that the instant the permit to build the apartment complex was given most of the minorities in that neighborhood put their places up on the market. They were no fools. They knew what was going to happen and they wanted no part of it. The paradox here is that what was once called 'white flight' is being led by successful minorities that want no part of that nonsense! Soccer Mom Karen doesn't seem to see what is going to happen. She can't seem to figure out why the neighbors are moving. She's looking forward to living in a diverse neighborhood.

Soccer Mom Karen can't seem to figure out that there are consequences to elections and that she is paying the price for her stupidity.

Dr. King said that he wanted to see us judged by the content of our character and not the color of our skin. Apparently Soccer Mom Karen never understood this or never understood the difference.

Kind of an update.

A church mass shooting in Texas was recently stopped by a lawfully armed citizen firing a single shot. The shooter was stopped dead in his tracks.

Please note that the law that enabled the man to do this was lobbied AGAINST by Mom's Demand Action, an organization chock full of of Soccer Mom Karens.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Happy New Year. Big deal.

I was in bed by ten last night per SOP. It's what I have done for years.

The last year I was home for it I had a quick snort and hit the rack early and woke up feeling pretty good which was a pretty good way to start the year.

Of course a lot of people woke up feeling like hell because they were stupid and decided to tangle with an entire bottle of bourbon.

I have never figured out why a person that has a cold beer on the Fourth of July and a glass of wine at Thanksgiving thinks he's a match for a bottle of bourbon on New Year's eve. It makes no sense yet it seems like every year the amateurs come out and wind up making a mess of themselves one way or the other.

Actually to their credit, fewer of them get behind the wheel. My guess is their spouse puts their foot down and takes charge and either calls a cab or stays sober and does the driving.

I suppose I can't gripe if Joe Amateur stays out from behind the wheel.

Someone asked me about what he should do to build himself a good

Pennsylvania deer rifle.

He went on and on about the various calibers and barrels, scopes and stocks and who to got to put this masterpiece together. He carried on for quite some time before he asked me what I use when I go deer hunting.

His jaw dropped when I told him I use a Model 94 Winchester I picked up in a pawn shop.

Then he started stammering and stuttering about this and that and how I was doing it all wrong because he just KNEW he had to have an expensive custom made rifle to bag a poor deer with.

I shrugged that the old war horse worked for me and I never had any problems with it because the overwhelming majority of deer kills in PA are well under 100 yards and most of them are well under 50 yards.

His brain unfogged a bit when I told him that a custom gun is nice to own but is entirely unnecessary and on top of that I don't care if the old Winchester gets scratched up a bit. It is going to get scratched up in the woods.

Then I asked him how upset he'd be if his new spendy custom got banged up a bit. He looked sort of upset at the thought.

When he asked me about accuracy I told him that a minute of venison is all you need and the deer isn't going to know if he got hit with a 30-30, a.308 or a 6.5 Creedmoor.

I do believe I opened his eyes a bit because he asked me where the pawn shop was.

I just read that in Virginia the score is now 87 out of 95 counties that

have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries.

Yet the powers that be in Richmond have decided not to back down and plan on enacting unconstitutional gun control laws. Interesting.

There is a protest march scheduled in Richmond for 20 January and from what I have heard the Virginia State Police already estimate that it will be attended by 30,000 people. It is very possible that these figures are low.

For a perspective there are only 7500 people in the Virginia National guard and an inordinate number of them come from the sanctuary counties. It is certain that many of these have no intention of supporting the muckety-mucks running Richmond. An awful lot of these people own guns that are on the proposed ban list.

A number of these will probably call in sick or whatever and it is entirely possible there will be a mutiny. At the very least there will be a lot of foot dragging.

Many plan on attending armed and in full battle kit which should make things interesting. It looks to me like it is more of a show of force than a quiet protest.

Yet the elected officials are probably pretty naive and will likely enact the legislation and we shall see what we shall see.

I have said that a tarring and feathering of a few of these elected officials should make a statement that will get the rest of them to change their minds. I'm not too sure about that anymore.

People in power tend to be insulated and many seem to think they are immune to whatever comes down the pike. Others it has been reported have out and out been bought. They're going to have to drum up an awful lot of cash to pay it back and they are likely scared of what happens if they don't do the bidding for the benefactor.

We may very well be near the time where the people have to revert back to a little Old School persuasion if they want to keep their liberties. I'm sure a lot of people think it's time to dig the pitchfork out of the barn and find a torch of some sort and pay these people a little visit in their homes. Can't say as I blame them.

Yeah. That was me with the long gun glassing the AO.

It's funny how the sarcasm goes on the net. There's a lot of BS that flies and God only knows how much of it gets taken as gospel.

I was about two thousand miles from an innocent business transaction. One of the guys was selling a radio he outgrew and another guy on the same board bought it. It was a more than fair deal.

They were discussing the deal on the board because the seller went well out of his way to teach the buyer how the damned thing works.

I jumped in and told them I was in high cover with the long gun glassing the area to make sure nobody tried to rob them during the transaction.

Most people that read this will know it's Bravo Sierra but there's always one guy that will get all wide-eyed and take it as gospel.

When you read something at least TRY and ask your self if it makes sense. Why would I take it upon myself to do something and how was I possibly to know where the transaction was going to take place?

Know that wonderful Virginia neighborhood you managed to bust your ass to afford a nice home in?

You went in hock up to your ears to afford a decent place to live there so you could raise your kids in a halfway decent neighborhood. Surprise!

Virginia House Del. Ibraheem Samirah introduced a bill that would override local zoning officials to permit multi-family housing in every neighborhood, changing the character of quiet suburbs.

Good bye American dream.

Enter Section 8 etc, etc.

What REALLY sucks is you are still expected to pay for what is certain to turn into a drug ridden crime infested neighborhood.

Sucks to be you if the Democrats get their way.

Of course you can bet your ass that it won't apply to the people that ram this through.

These are the same people that are trying to outlaw firearms in Virginia and put the people in the position where they will be unable to tell Richmond to cease and desist.

I just read where the US is no longer sending bomb sniffing dogs

to either Egypt or Jordan because the animals are being abused.

I have no problem with this at all. None whatsoever.

I don't give a damn how their religion or whatever regards dogs. A trained animal is a true jewel and should be treated well. If you are not going to respect what we send you to try and help you out then we should stop sending them over there.

Find your own bombs.

Good luck.

I did it again

I was sitting in an aisle seat on an airplane that was close to the bathroom. A little girl and her mother were standing next to my seat waiting their turn.

I looked at the little girl and said, "I used to have a pretty little girl just like you." She smiled.

The mother said to me, "Then she grew up, right?"

With a straight face I answered her, "No, Ma'am. I lost her in a poker game. My wife was so mad about it that she wouldn't speak to me for almost two whole months!"

It is OK to bring your lunch on an airline.

Lately I have been doing a considerable amount of flying which is no longer any fun but it is what it is.

The airlines have little cold meals you can buy but it sure as hell isn't what it used to be.

Recently I stuffed a sub sandwich in my bag and TSA saw it, looked at it and let it pass. About halfway across this great land of ours I broke it out and washed it down with an airline supplied soft drink. Nobody looked twice and I get a halfway decent meal with no bullshit or fanfare.

Pro tip: If you can have the sub made with a pretzel roll. It seems not to get anywhere near as soggy as a basic sub roll when you carry it along with you.

Where possible I am going to make a habit of bringing my own lunch on long flights.

Gun control advocation by an elected official is an admission

that they are incapable of leading an armed populace.

An Army platoon sergeant runs a platoon. Generally he's not a college grad but a handful are. He takes the basic responsibility for the lives of about 40 guys. He leads about 40 ARMED men and sometimes in combat.

Some of them are pretty tough cookies. In addition to be responsible for feeding, clothing, sheltering and arming them they are also responsible for disciplining them. Some of these men in his platoon can be pretty rambunctious. They don't like being put on extra duty, losing a stripe or a part of their pay.

There really is nothing keeping one of the good sergeants charges from shooting him in the back in combat and actually getting away with it. Yet is very rarely happens.

Why? It's called leadership. when push comes to shove his people know that he's the guy that will bring them home safely back to their loved ones.

A number of our elected officials seem to want us disarmed.

Sounds to me like an admission that they can't lead. That or they want things from us they couldn't get otherwise if we were armed.

I don't know about them but if I were in a leadership position I would want the people I lead to be armed to the teeth. It would make the group I was leading all that more powerful.

Read 'The Prince' by Niccolo Machiavelli sometime.

asking him to issue a pardon for Ethel Rosenberg who was executed with her husband, Julius for selling military secrets to the Russians including nuclear bomb secrets.

Leave it to Elizabeth Warren to ask for Ethel's pardon and throw Julius under the bus. Typical liberal sexist bullshit. I expect no less of her.

You can lose your rights.

It's not hard to do.

Someone told me you don't hit a woman. He's wrong. You don't hit a LADY. As soon as she starts something she loses her rights as a lady.

I saw a women knocked out one time and when it happened every woman present cheered. The victim was a man hating bitch that thought that kneeing a guy in the groin was OK. She tried it to a fisherman and missed his testicles. The fisherman responded in kind. She was promptly knocked cold and the women of the establishment dragged her outside and tossed her into a dumpster where she came to in a pile of beer cans.

By her conduct she lost her rights to be treated like a lady. It's a two way street. If you act like a lady you will be treated like a lady. If you don't act like one you won't be treated like one.

Same hold true for people of any age.

Melania and Barron Trump have chosen to stay out of the political fray. The deserve to be left out. The Obama kids stayed out of the limelight and were allowed to do so. Fair enough.

On the other hand both David Hogg and Greta Thunberg have decided to enter the fray and therefore open themselves up to public criticism. When they entered the fray they lost their rights to be protected from criticism.

I recently criticized Greta and a couple of people gave me the "She's a child" rap. She's a child that chose to enter the public limelight and therefore lost her right to be protected as one.

Someone pointed out that she's a special needs child and therefore is protected. Nope.

Someone else pointed out that her parents should go to jail for child abuse for parading around a special needs child. I do believe they are right but I digress.

The minute she stood up and picked up the microphone and went public she lost her rights. Sorry. You can have one or the other but you can't have both. That's the way it works.

Incidentally you can expect her to fall off the map once her handlers have no more use for her.

David Hogg is another one. He picked up the microphone and spouted off.

A relative said Hogg was a nice boy the media was helping out.

Bullshit! He was and likely still is a tool. His handlers seem to have no use for him anymore because you don't hear much from him these days.

Update on yesterday's post

It is now 75 counties, 10 cities and 9 towns in Virginia that have declared themselves to be Second Amendment sanctuaries.

That's about 79%.

There are 95 counties in Virginia.

It should be noted that the last seven signed on AFTER the governor had threatened to deny sanctuary counties state money AND had threatened them with using the National Guard to enforce things.

Look for more to join in the next week or so.

It is getting pretty interesting.

Incidentally if you look at the demographics of the National Guard you will see that a mutiny is very possible. I'd estimate that over 90% of National Guardsmen own at least one firearm.

While not too likely, it is very possible the National Guardsmen could be given the order, "About face! Fix bayonets!" It would be worth a week's pay to see the look on the Governor's face if that happened!

A similar subject came up while I was on active duty. During a riot duty class I was overheard when I commented that "They better have a damned good reason to order me to fire on American citizens. If they don't have one I will fire on the officer or NCO that gave the order."

It was my battery commander that overheard me. He replied, "As you damned well should. We all took an oath to defend the American people, not to kill them."

Update. Here's a post from a Guardsman:

So far it is 61 out of 95 counties in Virginia are now

Second Amendment sanctuaries.

Interesting.

They have told Richmond to shove it. At least one sheriff has stated he will deputize the entire county or organize the militia if need be.

Interesting.

I have already listened to and read the outraged comments by angry liberals and it makes me laugh out loud.

The very people that say the sheriffs and county governments can't declare themselves to be Second Amendment sanctuaries are living in cities that are sanctuaries for illegal immigrants.

Pick one. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

Funny what grease and a couple of lag will do to a garage door opener.

The garage door opener started acting up. It would close part way and reopen. There was a sang of some sort and when it hit the snag the brain in it would act like someone was caught in it so it would stop for a second and then go back up.

I ran it a couple of times and located the snag. It was because the braces were loose and the thing shook a bit when it hit the snag and sort of jammed it momentarily, long enough to get the brain in the thing to react.

I noticed the braces were shaking and looked at them carefully. They appeared to have been installed as an afterthought and were simply held in place by nails that seemed to have worked themselves out.

I also felt the insides of the runners and they were dry. I promptly filled them with grease and that improved things. Still, the rails shook as did the braces.

Out came the old nails and I simply put in a couple of lag bolts. This eliminated about 96.87% of the shaking and the old door runs like a Swiss watch again.

For a minute I was beginning to think I would have to replace the whole shooting match but simple maintenance did the trick.

You couldn't hit a guy with a Model 94 at 30 yards?

There is an old rerun of JAG on the TV for background noise.

While I was going to pee I glanced at it and some guy took a couple of shots at Harm and Mac with one. He missed.

He ought to be ashamed of himself. He missed two people at thirty yards with a Model 94.

I am on one of those neighborhood dot com type of sites and occasionally check it out if something interesting comes up in my email box.

The other day some mom type asked, "They are clearing a lot next to such and such a place. What are they going to build there?"

What a target of opportunity! I could see that turning into a three ring circus! All it would have taken me is a couple of seconds and a single click!

"Hopefully a much needed strip club and adult book store." Click.

But I didn't because the account is in my real name which I should have thought of when I opened it.

It would have been a troll's dream. I can just picture the soccer moms going off like skyrockets.

"What? We don't need a place like that in our town!" a soccer mom would write.

Piccolo replies, "Why? It would save me a couple trips downtown each week and  severely reduce my chances of getting a DUI on the way home."

"I don't want my husband hanging out there!" Says another do good soccer mom.

Piccolo: "Why? It's your golden opportunity if you don't trust him. Slip Bubbles a fast hundred bucks for him to get caught with her off duty. Nail him cold. A good divorce attorney could take him to the cleaners and you'd be sitting pretty and have him out of your hair working three jobs to have you watching TV all day."

"Those women are prostitutes!" screams another indignant woman.

Piccolo: "You know, that's not a bad deal. Your son's gotta get it somewhere and that's a lot better of a deal than having him knock up his girlfriend."

Another indignant one. The local preacher takes the bait. "Those women are being exploited!"

Piccolo. "Nonsense. They are being paid and actually make excellent money. If they got a halfway decent rack and a reasonably good ass they can put their way through college and graduate debt free. You'd be surprised at how many college educations have been funded by exotic dancers. It also encourages them to stay in shape so the tips keep rolling in."

Enter a woman that took one look at the post and knows a troll when she sees one. In reality nature has not been good to her but she doesn't worry about it.  She grew up with seven brothers and shares their sense of humor. She just HAS to enter the fray.

"I've been looking for a boob job, a tummy tuck and a butt life but it's so expensive. Maybe this would be a way to pay for it. What kind of money do dancers make?" she asks, adding to the outrage.

"They sell drugs in places like that! I don't want my son involved with drugs." Another angry mother chimes in.

Piccolo: "So get him a fake ID so after he gets coked up he can go inside and have a few beers to wash the dope out of his system."

Finally the threat comes. "I am reporting this to the CITY POLICE!"

Piccolo: "Why? What good will that do? I have broken no laws. The police are already on to this. They open this thread several times a day because they are laughing their asses off at all the people that are too stupid to know they are being trolled. If the original poster wanted to know what was going up in the lot that's being cleared she should have called the township. They'll tell you it's going to be a building to store snow removal equipment."

I think I'm going to have to open a troll account there. It sounds to me like a lot of fun. There is nothing more gullible that a soccer mom.

Paroled to the army with the stipulation he was sent overseas.

Or so they said on an old rerun of 'Dragnet'.

Some guy on the rerun I saw was paroled to the Army with the stipulation he got sent overseas. He was pulling time for robbery.

The ORIGINAL 'Dragnet' with Harry Smith as Joe's partner. NOT the remake that came out in '67 with Harry Morgan playing Officer Bill Gannon.

I guess the army was at that time a dumping ground and for decades took in juvenile delinquents and others that needed a second chance.

The urban legend of this type of thing happening lasts to this day. Recruiters still have parents thinking the services will take a youngster in and straighten him out. They have not done this since the early 60s.

While even back in my day that sort of thing had come pretty much to a halt, I do believe it has a certain amount of merit.

On the other hand, the NCOs have had a lot of their authority taken away from them to make it work in this day and age.

I have very mixed feelings about this.

F*** the Fire Department.

Actually I like the Fire department and for that matter have a lot of respect for the Police department.

I just figured the cops get too much crap dumped on them so I figured I'd just dump on the Firemen today and give the cops a much needed break.

After all I'm just trying to be a good communist and spread the misery equally.

One of the things I think the internet has done

in a positive way is to keep the mainstream media at least a little more honest although I don't think that it does a whole lot of good with CNN, but that is just me.

I just heard that President Trump sneaked off to Afghanistan to pull KP duty and serve the Troops Thanksgiving dinner which is a lot more than former president Obama did.

The media saw a motorcade of sorts headed to the golf course and carried on about how it looked like Trump was going golfing and duly reported it. However when they figured out it was a ruse most likely for security purposes and that Trump was headed to Afghanistan to serve turkey to the troops it was crickets.

At least until the word broke on the web and finally MSNBC had to admit it and aired a brief segment about it.

Without the web to pressure the media I doubt we would have heard a word about the President that from what I have gathered really cares about the troops and is pretty damned frugal with their lives, unlike a lot of others.

I've harped on this for quite some time.

When the kid down the street gets blown away it's a shame and you drop off the family a casserole on your way to the mall. You still go to the mall, though.

When it's YOUR kid that gets wasted it becomes a family tragedy that no parent ever recovers from.
