Most people wonder why Trump is so interested in Greenland. That's probably because he knows it would be a good strategic asset for the United States.

Here's a pretty good WSJ article as to why Greenland matters to the US defense that makes a lot of sense. It explains it better than I can.

Incidentally this is not the first time we have made a real estate deal with Denmark. We bought the Danish West Indies (Now US Virgin Islands) from Denmark back in 1917.
