I woke up at some time before sunup and wandered out onto the front porch and listened to the birds planning a new day and decided to go back in and grab another hour of shuteye.
Before I did I cut loose with a loud coyote call and got all the dogs in the neighborhood barking. It was a chain where one dog gets another one going and so on. I probably managed to get about a block radius worth of dogs going, maybe even more then that. I don't think I have done this in decades.
I listened to my masterpiece for a while and then went back inside and grabbed s little more shuteye, smiling as I dozed off.
Did I wake all the neighbors? Probably not which is fine. It wasn't my goal. I'm sure a couple might have been inconvenienced and had to tell the do to shut up and then roll back over again.
When I lived with dogs they could yap all night and I'd sleep through it. (The very rarely heard low growl at 0300 would instantly bring me to my feet)
Still, it was rather satisfying listening to the dogs spread the word to each other.
