You never ever negotiate with terrorist or criminals.

A few years back the Russians had a classroom taken over by terrorists that threatened to kill the schoolchildren.

The Russians took the attitude that taking the classroom back by force was a life saving mission because they assumed the kids were already dead to begin with. The simply stormed in and took out the terrorists and saved a large majority of the children.

I have not heard of an act like that in Russia since because the forces of evil have discovered that hostage tactics don't work very well in Russia. It simply produces a large number of dead terrorists with no tangible results.

The Russians paid their dues to the reduction of terrorism at a cost of a few schoolchildren. For some it was very expensive. You don't raise a kid to have him killed by terrorism. Still, if you look at the big picture it means in the long run a LOT fewer schoolkids will be placed in harm's way.

I have referred to this as 'shoot the hostage' because one of the things that charging in does is remove the hostage from the equation.

  2. That method would not work here. In Russia, they showed the terrorists that hiding behind civilians would not protect them - so they stopped trying.

If we tried that same tactic here, even successfully, every mother who lost a child would be on the six o'clock news, demanding that whichever politician or police chief was responsible, be criminally charged for not protecting her precious spawn.

The juice would not be worth the squeeze, because even if we did it successfully once, the terrorists would know that we would break before they do.

  3. Exactly. We would crack and that is the reason that terrorism works here. If we DID make it a no exception policy they would stop trying

  4. If we did make such a policy, those who wailed the loudest would quickly vote out those sensible leaders, and replace them with ones who would give in. It is a people problem, not so much an issue with leadership.

    1. You are 100% correct. We are too emotionally driven in this country.
