We're all getting too old for this $hit

I said I was "Gettin' too old for this $hit." and someone asked me if I was retiring. I said I was not.

"But you said you were getting too old..." he countered.

"The operative word," I shot back,  'is 'getting'. I am getting too old for this and when I finally do get too old I will retire."

I guess they don't teach the English language in schools any more.
