The states that have legalized cannibis seem to have already screwed things up to a fare-thee-well. How?
By taxing the dickens out of it.
One of the selling points for legalization of cannibis they advertised was that legalization would eliminate illegal trafficking of marijuana.
Needless to say, a number of the states taxed cannibis so heavily that the underworld can undercut the legal product and still turn a hefty profit.
Par golf. As usual, the people in government just don't think.
Why am I not surprised?
They could say what they liked, the true reason behind legalization was always to tax it. But then they got greedy, and they taxed it like they do cigarettes, which is to say, heavily. So instead of running the underground market out of business, they gave plausible deniability to its customers.
ReplyDeleteExact;y. They got greedy.
ReplyDeletePot smokers smoked pot when it was illegal. Thay are NOT going to pay a 25% tax just to smoke legal pot.
More stupidity from our (so-called) 'leaders'.
