One of my favorite crackpots is Burt Monro.

from New Zealand who set the worlds land speed record in it's category on a 1920 Indian motorcycle. The record still stands.

There was a movie about him in the early 20s and I suppose they tried to do him justice and they probably did. The movie was named The World's Fastest Indian and it is about a man and his passion.

Years ago on this blog I followed yet another passionate crackpot that tried to set a land speed piston driven (in his class) record in a garage built hot rod of some sort.
