Someone asked me about what he should do to build himself a good

Pennsylvania deer rifle.

He went on and on about the various calibers and barrels, scopes and stocks and who to got to put this masterpiece together. He carried on for quite some time before he asked me what I use when I go deer hunting.

His jaw dropped when I told him I use a Model 94 Winchester I picked up in a pawn shop.

Then he started stammering and stuttering about this and that and how I was doing it all wrong because he just KNEW he had to have an expensive custom made rifle to bag a poor deer with.

I shrugged that the old war horse worked for me and I never had any problems with it because the overwhelming majority of deer kills in PA are well under 100 yards and most of them are well under 50 yards.

His brain unfogged a bit when I told him that a custom gun is nice to own but is entirely unnecessary and on top of that I don't care if the old Winchester gets scratched up a bit. It is going to get scratched up in the woods.

Then I asked him how upset he'd be if his new spendy custom got banged up a bit. He looked sort of upset at the thought.

When he asked me about accuracy I told him that a minute of venison is all you need and the deer isn't going to know if he got hit with a 30-30, a.308 or a 6.5 Creedmoor.

I do believe I opened his eyes a bit because he asked me where the pawn shop was.

I just read that in Virginia the score is now 87 out of 95 counties that

have declared themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries.

Yet the powers that be in Richmond have decided not to back down and plan on enacting unconstitutional gun control laws. Interesting.

There is a protest march scheduled in Richmond for 20 January and from what I have heard the Virginia State Police already estimate that it will be attended by 30,000 people. It is very possible that these figures are low.

For a perspective there are only 7500 people in the Virginia National guard and an inordinate number of them come from the sanctuary counties. It is certain that many of these have no intention of supporting the muckety-mucks running Richmond. An awful lot of these people own guns that are on the proposed ban list.

A number of these will probably call in sick or whatever and it is entirely possible there will be a mutiny. At the very least there will be a lot of foot dragging.

Many plan on attending armed and in full battle kit which should make things interesting. It looks to me like it is more of a show of force than a quiet protest.

Yet the elected officials are probably pretty naive and will likely enact the legislation and we shall see what we shall see.

I have said that a tarring and feathering of a few of these elected officials should make a statement that will get the rest of them to change their minds. I'm not too sure about that anymore.

People in power tend to be insulated and many seem to think they are immune to whatever comes down the pike. Others it has been reported have out and out been bought. They're going to have to drum up an awful lot of cash to pay it back and they are likely scared of what happens if they don't do the bidding for the benefactor.

We may very well be near the time where the people have to revert back to a little Old School persuasion if they want to keep their liberties. I'm sure a lot of people think it's time to dig the pitchfork out of the barn and find a torch of some sort and pay these people a little visit in their homes. Can't say as I blame them.

Yeah. That was me with the long gun glassing the AO.

It's funny how the sarcasm goes on the net. There's a lot of BS that flies and God only knows how much of it gets taken as gospel.

I was about two thousand miles from an innocent business transaction. One of the guys was selling a radio he outgrew and another guy on the same board bought it. It was a more than fair deal. 

They were discussing the deal on the board because the seller went well out of his way to teach the buyer how the damned thing works.

I jumped in and told them I was in high cover with the long gun glassing the area to make sure nobody tried to rob them during the transaction.

Most people that read this will know it's Bravo Sierra but there's always one guy that will get all wide-eyed and take it as gospel.

When you read something at least TRY and ask your self if it makes sense. Why would I take it upon myself to do something and how was I possibly to know where the transaction was going to take place?

Know that wonderful Virginia neighborhood you managed to bust your ass to afford a nice home in?

You went in hock up to your ears to afford a decent place to live there so you could raise your kids in a halfway decent neighborhood. Surprise!

Virginia House Del. Ibraheem Samirah introduced a bill that would override local zoning officials to permit multi-family housing in every neighborhood, changing the character of quiet suburbs.

Good bye American dream.

Enter Section 8 etc, etc.

What REALLY sucks is you are still expected to pay for what is certain to turn into a drug ridden crime infested neighborhood.

Sucks to be you if the Democrats get their way.

Of course you can bet your ass that it won't apply to the people that ram this through. 

These are the same people that are trying to outlaw firearms in Virginia and put the people in the position where they will be unable to tell Richmond to cease and desist.

I just read where the US is no longer sending bomb sniffing dogs

to either Egypt or Jordan because the animals are being abused.

I have no problem with this at all. None whatsoever.

I don't give a damn how their religion or whatever regards dogs. A trained animal is a true jewel and should be treated well. If you are not going to respect what we send you to try and help you out then we should stop sending them over there.

Find your own bombs.

I did it again

I was sitting in an aisle seat on an airplane that was close to the bathroom. A little girl and her mother were standing next to my seat waiting their turn. 

I looked at the little girl and said, "I used to have a pretty little girl just like you." She smiled.

The mother said to me, "Then she grew up, right?"

With a straight face I answered her, "No, Ma'am. I lost her in a poker game. My wife was so mad about it that she wouldn't speak to me for almost two whole months!"

It is OK to bring your lunch on an airline.

Lately I have been doing a considerable amount of flying which is no longer any fun but it is what it is.

The airlines have little cold meals you can buy but it sure as hell isn't what it used to be. 

Recently I stuffed a sub sandwich in my bag and TSA saw it, looked at it and let it pass. About halfway across this great land of ours I broke it out and washed it down with an airline supplied soft drink. Nobody looked twice and I get a halfway decent meal with no bullshit or fanfare.

Pro tip: If you can have the sub made with a pretzel roll. It seems not to get anywhere near as soggy as a basic sub roll when you carry it along with you. 

Where possible I am going to make a habit of bringing my own lunch on long flights.

Gun control advocation by an elected official is an admission

that they are incapable of leading an armed populace.

An Army platoon sergeant runs a platoon. Generally he's not a college grad but a handful are. He takes the basic responsibility for the lives of about 40 guys. He leads about 40 ARMED men and sometimes in combat.

Some of them are pretty tough cookies. In addition to be responsible for feeding, clothing, sheltering and arming them they are also responsible for disciplining them. Some of these men in his platoon can be pretty rambunctious. They don't like being put on extra duty, losing a stripe or a part of their pay.

There really is nothing keeping one of the good sergeants charges from shooting him in the back in combat and actually getting away with it. Yet is very rarely happens.

Why? It's called leadership. when push comes to shove his people know that he's the guy that will bring them home safely back to their loved ones.

A number of our elected officials seem to want us disarmed.

Sounds to me like an admission that they can't lead. That or they want things from us they couldn't get otherwise if we were armed.

I don't know about them but if I were in a leadership position I would want the people I lead to be armed to the teeth. It would make the group I was leading all that more powerful.

Someone showed me a letter that Elizabeth Warren sent to then president Obama

asking him to issue a pardon for Ethel Rosenberg who was executed with her husband, Julius for selling military secrets to the Russians including nuclear bomb secrets.

Leave it to Elizabeth Warren to ask for Ethel's pardon and throw Julius under the bus. Typical liberal sexist bullshit. I expect no less of her.

You can lose your rights.

It's not hard to do.

Someone told me you don't hit a woman. He's wrong. You don't hit a LADY. As soon as she starts something she loses her rights as a lady. 

I saw a women knocked out one time and when it happened every woman present cheered. The victim was a man hating bitch that thought that kneeing a guy in the groin was OK. She tried it to a fisherman and missed his testicles. The fisherman responded in kind. She was promptly knocked cold and the women of the establishment dragged her outside and tossed her into a dumpster where she came to in a pile of beer cans.

By her conduct she lost her rights to be treated like a lady. It's a two way street. If you act like a lady you will be treated like a lady. If you don't act like one you won't be treated like one.

Same hold true for people of any age.

Melania and Barron Trump have chosen to stay out of the political fray. The deserve to be left out. The Obama kids stayed out of the limelight and were allowed to do so. Fair enough.

On the other hand both David Hogg and Greta Thunberg have decided to enter the fray and therefore open themselves up to public criticism. When they entered the fray they lost their rights to be protected from criticism.

I recently criticized Greta and a couple of people gave me the "She's a child" rap. She's a child that chose to enter the public limelight and therefore lost her right to be protected as one.

Someone pointed out that she's a special needs child and therefore is protected. Nope.

Someone else pointed out that her parents should go to jail for child abuse for parading around a special needs child. I do believe they are right but I digress.

The minute she stood up and picked up the microphone and went public she lost her rights. Sorry. You can have one or the other but you can't have both. That's the way it works.

Incidentally you can expect her to fall off the map once her handlers have no more use for her.

David Hogg is another one. He picked up the microphone and spouted off.

A relative said Hogg was a nice boy the media was helping out.

Bullshit! He was and likely still is a tool. His handlers seem to have no use for him anymore because you don't hear much from him these days.

Update on yesterday's post

It is now 75 counties, 10 cities and 9 towns in Virginia that have declared themselves to be Second Amendment sanctuaries.

That's about 79%. 

There are 95 counties in Virginia. 

It should be noted that the last seven signed on AFTER the governor had threatened to deny sanctuary counties state money AND had threatened them with using the National Guard to enforce things.

Look for more to join in the next week or so.

It is getting pretty interesting.

Incidentally if you look at the demographics of the National Guard you will see that a mutiny is very possible. I'd estimate that over 90% of National Guardsmen own at least one firearm.

While not too likely, it is very possible the National Guardsmen could be given the order, "About face! Fix bayonets!" It would be worth a week's pay to see the look on the Governor's face if that happened! 

A similar subject came up while I was on active duty. During a riot duty class I was overheard when I commented that "They better have a damned good reason to order me to fire on American citizens. If they don't have one I will fire on the officer or NCO that gave the order."

It was my battery commander that overheard me. He replied, "As you damned well should. We all took an oath to defend the American people, not to kill them."

The very people that say the sheriffs and county governments can't declare themselves to be Second Amendment sanctuaries are living in cities that are sanctuaries for illegal immigrants.

Funny what grease and a couple of lag will do to a garage door opener.

The garage door opener started acting up. It would close part way and reopen. There was a sang of some sort and when it hit the snag the brain in it would act like someone was caught in it so it would stop for a second and then go back up.

I ran it a couple of times and located the snag. It was because the braces were loose and the thing shook a bit when it hit the snag and sort of jammed it momentarily, long enough to get the brain in the thing to react.

I noticed the braces were shaking and looked at them carefully. They appeared to have been installed as an afterthought and were simply held in place by nails that seemed to have worked themselves out.

I also felt the insides of the runners and they were dry. I promptly filled them with grease and that improved things. Still, the rails shook as did the braces.

Out came the old nails and I simply put in a couple of lag bolts. This eliminated about 96.87% of the shaking and the old door runs like a Swiss watch again.

For a minute I was beginning to think I would have to replace the whole shooting match but simple maintenance did the trick.

I have a friend who married a Chinese woman

and he has been in and out of China over the years.

He made what I consider to be a very interesting comment about life in China.

He said that on a day to day basis the Chinese have far less government intervention than we do in their daily lives.

Every kid in that town ought to head to the next city council meeting and snowball the daylights out of the entire city council.

There is an old rerun of JAG on the TV for background noise. 

While I was going to pee I glanced at it and some guy took a couple of shots at Harm and Mac with one. He missed.

He ought to be ashamed of himself. He missed two people at thirty yards with a Model 94.

John Wayne never missed and Indian with one!

Yeah, it's Hollywood. But, still!


Incidentally it is the one Old School rifle I consider the best one out there to make a quick aimed fairly close range shot with but that is just me.

Anyone that is ineligible to get a carry permit

in a Shall Issue state does not belong in a classroom full of school kids.

They don't have to own a gun or even have a permit to carry one. They just should be eligible to get a permit.

Think about this. If you are ineligible in a shall issue state there is something wrong with you.

I held back which is rare.

I am on one of those neighborhood dot com type of sites and occasionally check it out if something interesting comes up in my email box.

The other day some mom type asked, "They are clearing a lot next to such and such a place. What are they going to build there?"

What a target of opportunity! I could see that turning into a three ring circus! All it would have taken me is a couple of seconds and a single click!

"Hopefully a much needed strip club and adult book store." Click.

But I didn't because the account is in my real name which I should have thought of when I opened it.

It would have been a troll's dream. I can just picture the soccer moms going off like skyrockets. 

"What? We don't need a place like that in our town!" a soccer mom would write.

Piccolo replies, "Why? It would save me a couple trips downtown each week and  severely reduce my chances of getting a DUI on the way home."

"I don't want my husband hanging out there!" Says another do good soccer mom.

Piccolo: "Why? It's your golden opportunity if you don't trust him. Slip Bubbles a fast hundred bucks for him to get caught with her off duty. Nail him cold. A good divorce attorney could take him to the cleaners and you'd be sitting pretty and have him out of your hair working three jobs to have you watching TV all day."

"Those women are prostitutes!" screams another indignant woman.

Piccolo: "You know, that's not a bad deal. Your son's gotta get it somewhere and that's a lot better of a deal than having him knock up his girlfriend."

Another indignant one. The local preacher takes the bait. "Those women are being exploited!"

Piccolo. "Nonsense. They are being paid and actually make excellent money. If they got a halfway decent rack and a reasonably good ass they can put their way through college and graduate debt free. You'd be surprised at how many college educations have been funded by exotic dancers. It also encourages them to stay in shape so the tips keep rolling in."

Enter a woman that took one look at the post and knows a troll when she sees one. In reality nature has not been good to her but she doesn't worry about it.  She grew up with seven brothers and shares their sense of humor. She just HAS to enter the fray.

"I've been looking for a boob job, a tummy tuck and a butt life but it's so expensive. Maybe this would be a way to pay for it. What kind of money do dancers make?" she asks, adding to the outrage.

"They sell drugs in places like that! I don't want my son involved with drugs." Another angry mother chimes in.

Piccolo: "So get him a fake ID so after he gets coked up he can go inside and have a few beers to wash the dope out of his system."

Finally the threat comes. "I am reporting this to the CITY POLICE!" 

Piccolo: "Why? What good will that do? I have broken no laws. The police are already on to this. They open this thread several times a day because they are laughing their asses off at all the people that are too stupid to know they are being trolled. If the original poster wanted to know what was going up in the lot that's being cleared she should have called the township. They'll tell you it's going to be a building to store snow removal equipment."

I think I'm going to have to open a troll account there. It sounds to me like a lot of fun. There is nothing more gullible that a soccer mom.

Paroled to the army with the stipulation he was sent overseas.

Or so they said on an old rerun of 'Dragnet'.

Some guy on the rerun I saw was paroled to the Army with the stipulation he got sent overseas. He was pulling time for robbery.

The ORIGINAL 'Dragnet' with Harry Smith as Joe's partner. NOT the remake that came out in '67 with Harry Morgan playing Officer Bill Gannon.

I guess the army was at that time a dumping ground and for decades took in juvenile delinquents and others that needed a second chance.

The urban legend of this type of thing happening lasts to this day. Recruiters still have parents thinking the services will take a youngster in and straighten him out. They have not done this since the early 60s.

While even back in my day that sort of thing had come pretty much to a halt, I do believe it has a certain amount of merit. 

On the other hand, the NCOs have had a lot of their authority taken away from them to make it work in this day and age.

I have very mixed feelings about this.

Actually I like the Fire department and for that matter have a lot of respect for the Police department.

I just figured the cops get too much crap dumped on them so I figured I'd just dump on the Firemen today and give the cops a much needed break.

After all I'm just trying to be a good communist and spread the misery equally.

One of the things I think the internet has done

in a positive way is to keep the mainstream media at least a little more honest although I don't think that it does a whole lot of good with CNN, but that is just me. 

I just heard that President Trump sneaked off to Afghanistan to pull KP duty and serve the Troops Thanksgiving dinner which is a lot more than former president Obama did.

The media saw a motorcade of sorts headed to the golf course and carried on about how it looked like Trump was going golfing and duly reported it. However when they figured out it was a ruse most likely for security purposes and that Trump was headed to Afghanistan to serve turkey to the troops it was crickets.

At least until the word broke on the web and finally MSNBC had to admit it and aired a brief segment about it.

Without the web to pressure the media I doubt we would have heard a word about the President that from what I have gathered really cares about the troops and is pretty damned frugal with their lives, unlike a lot of others.

I've harped on this for quite some time.

When the kid down the street gets blown away it's a shame and you drop off the family a casserole on your way to the mall. You still go to the mall, though.
