which I actually had no problems with because the money was pretty good and I lived a casual lifestyle.
Every couple of weeks on an odd day after work he's hand out paychecks. I guess he just calculated things out when he felt like it.
The first couple of times I was curious and carefully checked to make sure everything was on the up and up. It was. Actually it wasn't. I had been hired at the rate of $15/hour and my first check was based on $17.50/hour. I was surprised. The following check I was paid at $20/hour where it stayed.
When I mentioned that he replied, "I want to keep you around. I pay people what they're worth."
Fair enough.
One day over coffee the subject of the erratic paydays came up. I opined that my life was disorganized to the point where it made no difference.
Another one of the guys said he actually liked it because it kept his wife from casual spending because she never knew when the next payday was.
The other two guys didn't seem to mind it just so long as they could keep the rent paid.
