An old career waitress is often a treasure.

Especially one that's worked in the place you are sitting in for a long time.

When I have one waiting on me I ask her what's good and more often than not she'll give me the inside scoop.

"Well, Jimmy's working today and he makes a pretty darn good hash if you like hash. If John was working I'd probably steer you to his biscuits and gravy. People say it's to die for." or something along these lines.

You often get the inside scoop and because of that I tend to tip these older women well. They're worth it.
