The Republicans are in now and I'll bet 100 internets

That they don't even make it to January without one of them shooting his mouth off and saying something stupid.

A while ago I watched Rick Santorum go from a shoo-in for the oval office to third runner-up in the local election for dog catcher in a period of just a couple of weeks. He did it all by himself and needed no help from anybody.

Some newly elected senator or representative is going to say something like "A woman can't get pregnant from rape" or he'll want married gays to wear pink T-shirts. Generally the stupidity will come from a moral issue of some sort. Something the government has no business getting into in the first place.

Generally this will come from a Republican that either is or is on the pad of the Christian coalition. Barry Goldwater was right when he said that the Republican party letting the Christian coalition in would be the end of the conservative movement.

He was right and since the Republicans got into bed with the Christian coalition they have suffered.

The Republicans would be a whole lot better off if they stopped trying to legislate morality and went back to taking care of the business end of things.

People don't like to see morality legislated. They feel it is none of the governments business. Yet time and again the Republicans stick their nose where it is not wanted and time and again they get slapped hard at the polls.

The truth is that the other day Americans didn't vote FOR the Republicans because they support their platform. They voted Republican because the alternative was worse.
