I just saw where trump signed the Right to Try law.

This enables people with terminal illnesses to use whatever experimental drugs they want to prolong their lives.

While Trump was 100% right to sign the bill there is another side to it that galls the hell out of me.

This should not have been an issue in the first place. 

The government has no business whatsoever keeping someone from using any drug they want to prolong their life. 

Of course I got emails from congresscritters telling me how much they supported this piece of legislation but not one of them ever brought up the point that they never should have had the power to regulate our lives like that in the first place.

What?!! You sold your CHILDREN?!!

I was buying milk and a few odds and ends and was checking out behind a woman with a couple of pretty well behaved kids.

We made eye contact and to be polite I told her she had pretty well behaved kids. She promptly asked me if I had any children.

Something about her told me she was a target of opportunity.

"I had twin beautiful blond haired twin daughters," I said.

The word 'had' got her attention.

"Where are they now?" she asked. She obviously expected to hear they were grown up or that they were with their mother after a divorce or something. She was being nosy.

"When they were five I sold them to an Arab. They just love blond hair and blue eyes," I said in such a casual way it just HAD to be true.

Of course she believed me and went completely bananas and started really carrying on about how awful a person I was.

The clerk who has seen me in action before was actually the entertainment because it was hilarious watching her bust her ass to keep a straight face.  

After the woman left the clerk asked me what I had gotten to the two girls and I told her I had gotten an oil well. Then I went on to explain how my wife blew it all in cocaine so I had to go back to work.

The clerk laughed like hell and asked where I come up with such bull$hit on such short order and I had to tell her the truth.

I don't have a clue.

I just saw where Louis Farrakhan is on the Trump bandwagon.

While many find that odd, I do not.

Farrakhan says that Trump has done more to fight the enemies of the black man than anyone else.

He's not wrong.

The first enemy I can think of is an enemy of all of us, no matter what race one is. It's unemployment and the resulting feeling of hopelessness. 

Unemployment is down and it is at a record low for blacks.

That is one of the biggest enemies Trump has fought and the black community has certainly benefited from it.

It's interesting that Louis Farrakhan is probably going to steer a number of blacks toward Trump come 2020.

Glad the yard work is done.

Last night I was watching the dog walkers and one came over to me and asked if I had been rude to his wife earlier in the day.

"If your wife was standing and yakking with another woman standing in the middle of the road on the blind part of the curve I told her to have her children teach her how to cross the street safely," I said. "If you want to call that rude then go ahead."

His eyebrows raised.

"I wasn't going very fast so I had no problem avoiding the pair of them but if yet another lead footed preoccupied mom roar by not paying attention as seems to be the norm around here the two of them could have easily been hit." I continued. "Want a beer?"

"I'll take a rain check on the beer," he said. "So that was all that happened?"

"Yup. That's what happened," I replied. 

"Thanks," he said, shook the dog's leash and they walked off.

I hope he went home and had his kids teach their mother how to cross the street but that's a lot to ask for.

A day of yardwork

Mowing, raking and general gardening.

It's 1600 and I am done for the day.

I had to make a quick Lowe's run earlier and as I rounded a corner I saw a pair of mothers standing in the middle of the road yakking.

It angered me because I had to maneuver a bit to get around them and it was an unsafe place to just be standing. I rolled down the window and told the pair of them they ought to have their kids teach them a few things about crossing the street. One got a bit snotty. The other cut her off and said I was right and I drove off. Let them settle it.

Had a little time last evening and

baked a batch of brownies in the Dutch oven. They came out pretty good.

I started playing with the Dutch oven a few weeks back and tried using someone else's heating styles with fair luck but this time I fell back on my instincts and everything came out almost perfect.

Seems like a lot of my life. 

Every time I fall back on instincts everything works out.

It got chilly

I got to sit in the garage looking out last night as a cold front rolled in.

The evening weather is interesting to watch.

Yesterday I made a pot of coffee and drank about half of it and put the rest in the 'fridge. I nuked it this morning and it was reasonably drinkable which surprised me.

I know that it would have been horrible if I had left it out at room temperature all day.

I am thawing out a piece of elk today as I have not had much game recently and elk sounds pretty good. Although it is a steak I think I will cut it up and make something out of it.

ANALYSIS/OPINION:

 

I know of no white person alive today in the United States who

has ever legally owned a black slave, or any slave for that matter.

Almost 700,000 mostly white men died 160 years ago to

end slavery. Jim Crow ended generations ago. Yet blackAmerica,

for the most part, is still locked in inner-city gang violence and

economic hardship. Why?

Is it because America is racist? 

Is it because of some overhanging white supremacy? 

Is it because of the Illuminati?

No, unfortunately, it is because of black culture and the

adoption of Democratic Party government dependency. 

We have just had eight years of the first black president. 

Black athletes, and entertainers, routinely earn multi-million 

dollar incomes. I can easily name several black billionaires

without even trying too hard. A large percentage of black

America is very successful. But, it is not enough. Too many

black youth are being left behind.

And it is no one but blackAmerica’s fault. 

No one can solve this problem but black America. 

No one can throw enough money at it.  We’ve tried that. 

Black America needs to look in the mirror and stop blaming

others, especially white people.

I am obviously white and conservative, and I served in the

military, which, during my time, was as color blind as you

could be. I can also honestly say I don’t give a damn what

color your skin is, neither do any of my friends. 

I do care about your actions. 

Blacks are around 15 percent of the population. Depending on

what study you look at, they commit around 40 percent to 50 

percent of violent crime inAmerica. Of course, there is going

to be a problem with police.  And, of course, there are some

bad policemen. However, those bad apples do not kill black

people statistically any more than they kill white people. 

Even Harvard said that recently. If you were a cop, and you 

had to work in a neighborhood infested with crime and murder,

wouldn’t you act differently than in a neighborhood where

there was little crime? The most effective thing black America

could do to improve its relationship with police is to

significantly reduce violent crime where they live. Yes, that

means change the culture of where you live and your community. 

I for one am tired of being blamed. 

I am tired of dealing with people who only want something

from others.  I don’t oppress anyone.  I don’t hold anyone down. 

I’m tired of getting on the D.C. metro and seeing white people

being harassed by roaming gangs of black youth with their

pants around their knees.  Yes, you want a white person

uncomfortable?  That makes me uncomfortable. 

It’s our nation’s capital and it’s embarrassing. 

Blacks have nothing but opportunity in America. 

Try finding the same opportunity anywhere else in the world. 

If you are born in Americayou’ve won life’s economic lottery. 

Take advantage of it. 

The problem is this generation has been taught an agenda of

cultural Marxism by our education system.  They’ve been taught

to be a victim, and it’s still going on.  All you have to do is watch

the young black, female student at Yale screaming at the

college president to understand that.  Blacks in America don’t 

even know how good they got it.

Don’t kneel when my anthem is played. 

Too many people died for that flag. 

You are free to protest but not then.  I am free to not watch,

or pay to watch you play if you do that.  The NFL should make

it a rule that you stand for the national anthem.  There is no

free speech to disobey a private employer on private property. 

This would solve the problem immediately.

The NFL has deeply offended most of America. 

They will pay an economic and reputational price, as they should.

We have a real cultural problem in this country, the result

of the Leftist multicultural agenda.  Multi-ethnicity is perfect

and should be encouraged.  Having more than one American

culture is destroying the country.  But then again, that is

what the Left wants.

I see where some 'noted authority' claims

What bull$hit!

How are you going to get the OK from a three day old infant?

This sounds like a back door entry to normalize some kind of pedophelia to me. The upcoming claim is that if infants have the right to give consent to have their diapers changed then they can surely consent to other things. 

This kind of stupidity is getting pretty damned stale fast.

Infants are infants. In fact they can't even talk for several months after birth. I suppose they are supposed to give their consent using American Sign Language, huh?

I just saw where a bunch of Garands are coming back from

the Philippines.

It will be interesting to see what kind of shape they come back in.

The Danish returns we returned in excellent condition, the Greek returns were pretty sad. However, I did get a Greek return and it was rebarreled and restocked and served me well for several Garand matches until someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I sold it.

The condition the Garands get returned in says a lot about the culture of the people that borrowed them.

Of course, Irma weighs in at 450 pounds and knows that if she even LOOKS at a ladder she's going to snap it clean in two so she stays the hell away from them.

One of the things that happens to a sailor at sea is

that his sleep schedule changes. This holds especially true when one is working the 12 to 6 watch.

Deep sea is somewhat different, they work a 4 on, 8 off watch system. Coastwise tug and barge is different in that they run a 6 on, 6 off watch system.

Still, it is hard on one's system and takes some serious getting used to.

You might think of that before you decide to make a career at sea.

Someone asked me something dumb today and I told him that

I was going to reply with my stock answer for just about everything.

He asked what that answer was and I replied, "The one with the biggest tits."

"How is that going to let me know when you will be available to help me out?" he asked, reeking of confusion.

"It probably isn't going to do you any good," I replied. "But that's my answer and I'm sticking to it."

The first time I ever gave that answer was in about 1979 sometime when I was working on a gypsy construction job.

The general contractor's kid was working there part time and for some reason liked to hang out with three of us that ate lunch together and occasionally went out for a beer after work.

The kid was still in high school and asked the three of us which girl to take to the prom as there were a couple of them pressuring him.

I told him to take the one with the biggest tits and my friend, nicknamed Filthy Herman told him to take someone else and leave the three girls high and dry.

Filthy Herman didn't get his nickname for no reason. He fixed the kid up with a 26 year old stripper he knew and to our surprise the kid took her to the prom.

Much to the young man's credit, he never ratted us out for putting him up to it when his father found out who he had taken to the prom.

I see where the Boy Scouts just went down the crapper

It's a disgrace.

Truth is they should have held fast in the beginning and taken the heat over the gay leaders business.

Instead they sold out their integrity.

Truth is they got what they deserved in the long run. However, the young people have just been cheated out of a wonderful organization that helped a lot of boys grow into being men.

The organization started to fall when it was attacked by a legal team supported by the LGBTQ community over gay rights. 

What irks me to no end is that this never should have come up to begin with. The organization was named the BOY Scouts for a reason.

Anyway, the real reason it was taken down is because they stood for Old School genuine American values and the powers that took it down are trying to destroy those values. Truth is it goes deeper than the LGBTQ business, a lot deeper.

I just read about a number of complaints at the U of FL commencement

Seems that some of the graduates are upset because they got dragged off of the stage for dragging their feet while they went up to get their diplomas.

I can't blame the University people for dragging them through if they were shuffling their way to pick up their diplomas. I would have done worse. I would have simply shoved them off of the stage but that is just me.

There were 1200 students getting their diplomas. It is a long, slow uncomfortable process. When I went through my high school graduation it took me forever and a day and that was only for 200 graduating students if that.

We went through at a good clip and got it done as fast as we could but it still took a while. I hated it and wished I could have had the school mail it to me but my parents made me go through with it. It was a pain in the ass.

It was bad enough with 200 students and I have a hard time imagining 1200 students having to get their diplomas and listen to a bunch of old windbags spout off. 

Anyone that wasn't blind or crippled that dragged their feet and slowed things down for everyone else should have just plain been shoved off of the stage, period.

The people that did this are not alone. They belong to the group that believes the world revolves around them and that it's OK to wait until they get to the head of the line to make up their mind what they want. We see a lot of this type at Starbucks and fast food lines. They hold up an already long line because they have not made up their mind before they reach the head of the line after a long wait and plenty of time to figure out what they want. 

Sending a foot dragger hurtling through space to land on the floor in front of the stage should be considered the final lesson the school teacher. It should be listed as part of the curriculum, possibly labeled as Graduation Flying Lesson 101 or something.

If the school sends them hurtling through space ending with a fifteen foot or so drop to the main deck they will likely learn not to slow everyone up.

We ought to give Puerto Rico back to Spain

I just heard the governor of Puerto Rico babbling that the GOP sucks because they didn't do anything for them after the hurricane Maria hit.

Horse puckey!

We had ships arriving before the seas even settled down. Of course, the local longshoremen decided to take advantage of the situation and use it to negotiate a higher wage. 

Then there was the case of some of the politicos sitting on the relief supplies for some kind of mysterious reason. Could they have been selling or bartering these supplies? Could there be corruption in the governor's or mayor's offices? Really? You don't say!

I was personally in contact with a couple of people involved in the relief effort and both told me that the feds were getting the stuff in there faster than they did in Louisiana and Texas after their flooding which is quite a logistic feat.

Yet the Governor of Puerto Rico badmouths the GOP?

The truth of it is what good have the Puerto Ricans done the rest of us in the States? They have been nothing more or less than another worthless expense to the United States and don't seem to me to that they produce anything.

It also appears to me that a lot of the people they export to the states don't even bother to learn English which they should actually be speaking in Puerto Rico now. After all, we've owned the worthless little dependent island since 1898.

In short, we do just about everything that matters for Puerto Rico and they don't even pay federal income taxes.

The governor has a lot of balls griping about what we have or have not done for them since Maria. The truth is they don't even pay into the system. They have a lot of gall criticizing a system that has given them quite a lot even though they don't pay into it.

In short, Puerto Rico is complaining about a free lunch.

Again, someone tried to play the Holocaust card on me.

As most of you know, every single genocide in the 20th century was preceded by civilian disarmament, AKA Gun Control.

I have used the Holocaust as an excellent example of government gone bad and a genocide following civilian disarmament.

What occasionally follows is when I use the Holocaust as an example someone jumps up and gives me lip about it because some distant relative died in a concentration camp.

Generally speaking, most people that had a relative murdered in a concentration camp then they understand the reference. SOme will occasionally give me a "Hey, I had a relative that died in a concentration camp..."

Yeah? So? It doesn't make you special. I'm not going to let you get away with something because you say you are related to a Holocaust victim.

How I treat people like that depends on how they are playing this. If they are playing some kind of victim card or acting offended I take an interesting tack on it.

"I lost an Uncle at Auschwitz," I will say.

"They threw my mother's 4th cousin twice removed into the gas chambers," is a  typical answer. They think that hiding behind the Holocaust gives them a safe place to hide. I don't play that game. It's just like a woman turning on the water works. I don't fall for that, either.

"My Uncle Fritz was machine gunning some people trying to escape when the gun mount broke and the recoil threw him out of the guard tower and he fell and broke his neck." 

I can say this SO seriously and with a sensitivity that Phil Donahue would be proud of. It generally takes several seconds for it to sink in and when it does the look of pure horror it creates is a real sight to behold.

They don't know if I am being serious or not and either way it just leaves them horrified.

I have threatened to retire and write a book and expose the entire

maritime industry.

I threatened to do that when I was in the army and a colonel that was within earshot looked at me with a big grin and told me I'd get over it.

He then went on to explain that he had threatened to do the same damned thing when he was a lieutenant but changed his mind as he made captain.

He was a pretty good officer and I respected him for displaying a sense of humor. Most officers would have chewed me out and made fools of themselves pompously defending the dopier side of the Army.

As for threatening to expose the maritime industry, everyone I have met that is in it all give me the same answer.

"Do it!" they say.


Later on I met that same colonel again and I said that I'd bet that I knew which day was the worst in his career.

He looked at me and asked what day that was.

I told him "It was the day the bastards took your company away from you, Sir."

He said he believed I was right. That was a dark day for him.Almost every officer I have asked over the years considered that the high point of their career was being a company commander.
