So every time you don't get your own way you scream discrimination.

They ought to put me on jury duty for a lot of this crap. I'd do my share to bring it to an end.

"Has the jury come to a decision?"

"Yes we have, Your Honor."

"And the decision is?"

"The plaintiff can go piss up a rope!"

I just read where a Muslim woman is upset because an airline wouldn't give her an unopened can of Coke. I didn't bother with the details after I scanned the article. I saw all I needed to.

For whatever reason, the airline people have to open all beverages before they hand them to passengers. I don't know why this is, and I really don't care why it is. It's their airplane and they make the rules. If you don't like it then find another way to get where you are going.

The woman seems to think that she was discriminated against because she's Muslim. Truth is, everyone has to have their beverage opened for them and those are the rules. If you don't like it don't order something to drink.

Changing the rules for one specific group would be discrimination. Holding fast and making a rule applicable to everyone isn't.

Last year sometime I heard a small diner owner tell me he had a complaint because he ran a barbecued pulled pork lunch special.

Someone said that it was unfair to Muslims and Jews.

Actually it wasn't. Muslims and Jews were given the same choice everyone else was. They could eat it or not eat it. It was and is as simple as that.

For one thing there were other choices on the menu and if there was nothing on the menu they liked they were free to go somewhere else.

What likely happened here is the diner owner got a pretty good deal on some kind of pork and figured he could make a few bucks by running a pulled pork special. He wasn't looking to offend anyone. He was looking at feeding people that were in the mood for pulled pork and make a few bucks in the process.

As far as discrimination goes, it really isn't too likely that the owner of such a place is discriminating. For one thing the owner is in his business to make money. Money knows little about race, creed, color, religion or whatever. Most business owners know this and don't care about a whole lot other than the color of the customer's money.

Same holds true for the airline that wouldn't hand the woman an unopened can of Coke. I doubt that the airline people really give a damn if the woman was a Muslim, a Catholic, a Jew, a Hindu or even an atheist.

They had their reasons for refusing to issue an unopened beverage and they didn't care who it was to.
