Pick one to shoot up.

The school that has a gun free zone (There premises protected by this worthless sign) or the school that has a policy that all teachers must have a license to carry firearms.

The way I look at it is that every teacher should have it mandated that for their teaching certificate to be valid they must have a valid carry permit.

Of course a lot of teachers that read this will screech to high heavens that they don't want to be forced to buy a gun. Those that do screech that should be sent to remedial reading because I never said they had to own one much less carry one. The truth is there are a lot of teachers in the classroom I wouldn't trust with anything sharper than a crayon. I simply said they should be licensed to carry a piece.

For one thing anyone that is ineligible to obtain such a permit doesn't belong in the classroom to begin with. It means they are either criminally or mentally banned from a permit and should not be around children to begin with.

As for those teachers that do opt to carry in the classroom they should get a stipend of some sort of at least enough for practice ammunition and they should be reimbursed for any pertinent classes they take regarding the use of defensive firearms.

While I doubt that we're going to see wholesale numbers of educators charging off to Gunsite Ranch for training or knocking down store doors to purchase the newest latest and greatest in defensive handguns, a number of them would likely opt to be armed.

While it would not eliminate school (or other public) shootings instantly, after the first couple got stopped by being ballistically ventilated they would drop to nothing.

It would also go quite a distance to eliminate assaults on teachers which seem to be more and more common these days.

I can hear the kids talking now. "Don't you be messin' with Miss Davis! She can shoot your eye out at 75 yards!"

As far as things like street robberies go, if about 25% of the people did carry a firearm concealed it would probably drop that kind of crime down to virtually nothing. Robbers rob only because they think they can get away with it and it would not take very long for those that would take what doesn't belong to them to find another line of work.
