Police employment applications are down 63% according to what I read and that isn't a good thing.

Needless to say, they will wind up lowering the standards to fill the slots.

This will lead to more police incompetence which will lead to fewer qualified applicants and the Graveyard Spiral as the number of good policemen drops.

This will eventually lead to departments that should be defunded as they will be full of little more than thugs and brown shirts.

I've seen a couple of departments be replaced and/or disappear over they years and the results generally ain't pretty. 

On the other hand, there will likely be a huge pile of applications to wealthier neighborhoods as police exodus leaves city departments. The rich always seem to get richer in more way than one.
