I swear. If an employer offered to pay someone's mortgage

in exchange for a $10/day pay cut there are an awful lot of idiots that would screech about how someone was trying to rip them off.

It's the same group that wants the pay raise to come in the form of taxable cash instead of non-taxable benefits even if the offered benefit package would cost them $150/ day if they had to buy it themselves.

Let's do a little math. The schedule many seamen work is equal time on/off for 182.5 paid days annually. Ten bucks a day would come to about $1850 annually which seems to be what a lot of people have for a monthly mortgage these days. It does vary, but even at a grand a month we're looking at an incredible deal. A grand a month is $12,000 per year and $10/day is 1825 per year. In effect it would mean a $10K annual raise.

It doesn't get any better than that yet there are a number of idiots that would screech blue bloody murder that the company was trying to rip them off.

Of course there are not a whole lot of companies out there that would make such a deal to their employees but the point is that there are a lot of stupid people out there that don't know when they are getting a good deal.

A lot of this mentality is probably why there are so many Biden voters out there. They don't stop and think about what's really good for them. They just react and run with their emotions. Orange man bad.

  1. I ages past Company Housing was a benefit for some workers.
Of course if you got fired, you had to move, but so what.
