You have to look at things for what they are.

It was in the early to mid 80s and I watched a film that a couple of guys had made about looking for sunken treasure. It was a self-made movie and wasn't all slick and polished like a Hollywood production.

Still, it was pretty cool and well worth the price at the Opium (Orpheum) Theater.

It was what it was. It was a movie made by regular guys with no previous experience and had a few moments of fuzzy photography and some broken continuity. but to me it was rather interesting.

Of course the usual gang griped about it and said it sucked because even though the reviews and word on the streets said it wasn't a regular polished movie they griped because it wasn't a polished Hollywood production.

It is what it is.

I have seen a couple of threads on shooter's boards where someone got a rifle from CMP and went nuts because the rifle was used and dinged up a bit.

CMP constantly warns people that these rifles have come out of various armories and have been used, reused and abused for decades yet some chowderhead gets mad because he didn't get an unissued perfect rifle out of some imaginary storage place where the brand new old stock rifles are cached. (at the price of a beat up rifle which he likely purchased)

I had one that was in pretty good shape straight out of the CMP armory. I did rebarrel it and expected I would have to when I bought it for such short money.

Still, my expectations beforehand were realistic.

A lot of us would be a lot happier if our expectations were a bit more realistic.
