Back in the day when the cop would hold your beer when you were getting your license out of your pocket...

At the local Cumby. 0552 local, 0952Z.

A Cumby which is really a Cumberland Farms which is actually a local convenience store.

Getting morning coffee as I do that when visiting to stay out of the morning rush of kids getting up. (One morning a years or so ago I woke up feeling particularly grubby, sneaked out and got cleaned up in a local pond)

Anyway one of the local Gendarmes was getting a cup of mud and I said to him that I had grown up in the area about 55 years ago. Needless to say he just had to ask what it was like back there.

Needless to say I just had to reply that back then if you got stopped the cop would hold your beer while you got your driver's license out.

The cop chuckled.

One of the things that people don't understand about most smaller New England communities is that things outside the cities people don't pay much attention to what Boston says.

For the most part the local cops try and actually serve the community like they did 50 odd years ago.

While things here are so different, they are very much still the same.
